Archie Winterbottom, know to all as "Sniffy", a name he attracted at school and which stuck, is a modern day
Walter Mitty. His lies and deception land him in situations time and time again and as he tries to retrieve the situation he sinks into deeper trouble. An alcoholic, his deceptions are fuelled by his daily intake to a point where he cannot recognise truth from fiction. Under the influence of the drink he is a womaniser, who hours after he proposes to his pregnant girlfriend, the daughter of a rich local builder, tries to seduce a nurse he met in the local hospital where he was receiving medical attention after another bender.
The wedding does go ahead with the father of the bride sporting a black eye but does Archie have the capacity to change as fatherhood approaches?
